If you planed to buy an used car, it is important not only to find the car you like but you may also need to take some precautions like checking the car history, taking a test drive, knowing its book value or taking an extended warranty.

Check the car’s history

An essential factor when car browsing is to learn the car’s history. This entails finding a reliable source as to whether the automobile has ever been flooded or involved in an automobile accident. Before agreeing to buy used cars, consumers may obtain a CarFax report at www.carfax.com or by requesting that their local dealer provide a copy. There is a minimal fee involved in acquiring the report, but the findings are invaluable. For instance, the number of owners and the title status are both included in a CarFax report.

Take a drive test

Generally, used cars buyers will be permitted to take a test drive and also may think about requesting permission to take the automobile to a trusted mechanic for an additional inspection. The best way to confirm that the automobile is in the condition as stated is to take it to a mechanic, who can properly inspect used cars and locate any underlying problems. Even if most used cars are exactly as stated, when auto safety and any amount of money is involved, there is no room for error in judgment.

Know the car value

Before buying any used car, it is important to be familiar with the value of the vehicle. One way to determine an accurate value is through the use of Kelly Blue Book (www.kbb.com) and their extensive pricing system. By entering specific information about an automobile, consumers will receive instant value estimates online. In order to get an accurate value, consumers must know the make and model of the automobile, current mileage, additional features and overall condition.

Ask for an extended warranty

It may also be possible to purchase an extended warranty when you buy an used car. Because the original warranty has already expired on most previously owned vehicles, this option is available for the consumer who wants to make sure their purchase is covered. It is important to realize that the warranty is not automatically included in the sticker. In fact, the consumer should ask the dealer specifically about purchasing an extended warranty. More often than not, an extended warranty can be added into the total cost and may even be included in the financing.

When Buying A Used Car from Its Owner, Beware of the Owner
Bearing Offers!

Getting started with used cars does not require a mortgage or a
student loan, but it is not free either. Buying used cars costs
money. That is why it is extremely important to know all the
possible factors that might lead the buyer into buying a used
car that is suspect.

In reality, it is easy for the buyer to get carried away by
convincing sales pitches, special offers, fantastic deals,
magnificent bundles, freebies, and the like. However, it would
take a really smart buyer to get the best deal when it comes to
used cars.

Hence, it is equally important to know the basic factors that
need to be considered before the buyer decides on a particular
used car, especially if the car will be bought directly from the
owner.

Here are some tips that might help those who are planning to buy
a used car from its owner.

1. When buying cars from the owner, the buyer should ask the
seller for the “vehicle registration document” or the so-called
V5. Through this document, the buyer will be able to know the
full details of the car’s ownership like the name of the owner,
the address, and other identity details.

2. If in case the V5 is with the Driver and Vehicle Licensing
Agency or the DVLA, as told by the owner, the buyer should
verify the reason. If it is due to recording purposes where the
change of ownership shall be recorded, the seller should have a
green slip that is to be presented to the buyer in exchange of
the V5.

3. It is best for the buyer to ask the seller to see the
insurance policy for the vehicle. If the seller cannot produce
the document, it would be better not to buy the used car because
there is a high probability that he is not the real owner or
that there is something fraudulent with the transaction.

4. It is important to check if the identification details
stipulated in the V5 is the same as that written in the driver’s
license. The address and the name should be the same on the two
most important documents. Other wise, it would be better not to
pursue on buying the car if there is doubt on the details.

These things should never be taken for granted because if any of
the conditions mentioned is present, there is a great chance
that the car is stol

Top 5 Dealership Scams:

1. The VIN# window etching scam

Basically a dealer will charge you $300-$900 for window etching
and they will tell you that you have to pay the money to get the
loan because the banks insists on it.

Some dealers might tell you that the etching is free but will
add on the etch money to your monthly payments to make up for it.

The best way to avoid this scam is to force the dealer to put it
in writing if they say that the etching is free or simply etch
the car yourself.

Remember a lender doesn’t require that you purchase any extras
on a car. All the lender cares about is that you can make your
payments on time regularly. Don’t buy into it.

2. The Financing Scam

I have mentioned this before already, but here it is in more
detail.

Basically you trade in your old car and the finance manager
tells you that your interest rate is good and then gives you the
car.

After a week or two passes you get the call from him that you
didn’t qualify for the interest rates that they gave you upon
making the deal.

Every new purchase has a clause in the contract that usually
states that the deal is “subject to loan approval.”

This gives the finance manager a loop hole in getting more money
out of you.

All that this means in the contract is that the deal is not
finished yet even you already have possession of the car and
have signed the contract.

The dealer can then charge you $1000 more in finance fees and up
your monthly payments by $50.

This scam is generally pulled on people with bad credit because
it is more plausible.

If you are wondering why they would sell you the car at 6% APR
if they knew you had bad credit (remember they ran the credit
search already) the answer is simple; to sell the car.

You can avoid this scam by not financing the car with the dealer
if you know that you have bad credit.

You are better off going to a credit union and financing the car
yourself. When you buy a new car the deal should be made on the
price of the car, not on the monthly payments.

3. The Credit Score Scam

This scam is ridiculous at best. This is when the finance
manager tells you that your credit score is lower than it really
is so that they can get you for higher interest rates.

This scam is pulled on everyone; good or bad credit.

This scam is easy to avoid. Just get your own copy of your
credit report from Equifax.com, and bring it with you.

It is really difficult to lie to you about your credit score if
you have your own copy of it. If your paper and theirs doesn’t
say the same thing, go somewhere else because that dealership is
lying to you.

Don’t forget to let them know it too because it’ll be nice to
watch them squirm.

4. The Forced Warranty Scam

This is when the finance manager tells you that you are not
eligible for the loan by the bank unless you pay an extra $2000
for a 2-3 year extended warranty.

This scam just doesn’t make sense. Basically the finance manager
is telling you that the bank won’t trust you to pay the $20,000
loan for the car, but they will trust you if you pay even more
money. That’s just stupid.

You can avoid this scam if you can force them to put it in
writing that you “have” to pay the extended warranty in order to
get the loan.

That way you can bring a copy of the contract to your local
State’s Attorney’s office to verify that the deal is valid. I
can bet that the finance manager will change his tune pretty
quickly.

5. The Dealer Prep Scam

Let me first let you know that cost is not only legal but very
much common practice. I still refer to it as a scam because it
is just another way for you to end up paying more money for the
car.

Basically the dealer will tell you have to an extra $500 to
cover the labor costs of the dealership’s 5-point inspection.

You are paying for the time it took for the dealership to make
sure that the car wouldn’t explode on you in the first week of
owning it.

This check up that you are paying so much money for is for the
dealership to remove plastic from the seats etc, vacuum the car
out, and making sure that all of the fuses and fluids are ready
to go.

When factories deliver the new cars to the dealerships the cost
of delivery and prep is already covered, so basically you are
paying the dealership for work that they haven’t really done.

I swear they could get the car in perfectly ready to drive
condition and put everything right back in it just so that they
can make you pay the fee again.

You can avoid this scam by simply asking the dealership to add
an extra $500 credit to the deal to make sure you do not have to
pay the money.

If they refuse, you can then decide if the car is worth the
money. If it is fine; buy the car, if not; go to another dealer
that will remove the dealer prep costs.

Scouting for price-cuts is a smart habit. And buying used cars is no exception.

No wonder why many people are enticed to buy used cars. In fact, statistics show that the number of people who buy used cars is three times more than the number of people who buy new cars.

But then again, not all used cars are maintained equally by their previous owners. Hence, it is important for those who wish to purchase used cars to consider the different factors that might affect the performance and the condition of the car.

Here is a list of some tips that will help buyers in choosing their used cars.

1. Safety features should not be taken for granted.

Being old is not an excuse to justify the used carÂ’s lack of safety features. Every car, whether old or new should have safety features in order to prevent some possible accident while driving.

Every used car should still have its anti-lock brakes working properly and airbags that are still intact (for cars made after this requirement).

2. The mileage is important

This is because the amount of mileage reflects the way the car has been used by the previous owner. Moreover, the mileage will denote the used carÂ’s age.

Normally, an average driver will drive 12, 000 to 15, 000 miles in a year. In this way, the buyer will be able to estimate how old the car is.

3. Over-all check up is important

Before buying the car, the buyer should first conduct an over-all check up on the condition of the car, from its exterior parts up to the very detail of its interior portion.

Being old does not mean any signs of wear and tear will be an excused. Hence, people should be aware what they are paying for.

4. Test drive

There is no better way to know the condition of the car until it has been test-driven. Hence, a buyer should make all the effort to do a test drive first before he or she jumps into conclusion.

5. If possible, the over all service history of the car should be checked.

This will provide the buyer solid information regarding the true condition of the car. Here, the buyer can detect if the car has so many technical problems before, if it has been into an accident already, or if the owner was good enough to provide the proper maintenance for the car.

Knowing these things is extremely important to avoid possible risks in the future.

Boiled down, inspection is mportant especially if the transaction concerns money. Cheap is no substitute for being a smart buyer.

Why should you buy online?

Does this scenario sound familiar? You go into a tyre depot for
a tyre, several sucks through the fitters teeth later and you
come out with 4 new tyres, an exhaust, new shocks and a stem
lube whatever that is!

That’s a very real fear faced by customers of fast fit tyre
centres and all too often it’s a fear that becomes a reality.
Principally because those other items are the items that that
teeth sucking fitter is paid bonus on selling. Buying online is
a good way to insulate you against that.

How it works

When you buy online, you select the tyre via the website, pay,
select where you want to fit the tyre and then arrange the
appointment. It’s not as complicated as it sounds, often this is
done within about 5 clicks. This tells the online company where
to send the tyre. you then go into the selected tyre store at
your appointed time where they will fit it for you. Most online
centres require 24hours notice to get the tyre to the tyre
store, but that is changing and if shop around a little, you may
be able to find some with instant availability.

The Advantages.

Firstly with most of the online tyre companies, you pay before
you go into the tyre centre. That means often the tyre centre
isn’t expecting you to go into the store with money, therefore,
he’s already written you off as a prospect for the “up sell”.

In addition, you get much more choice, I would always recommend
that if you are only fitting one or two tyres you should fit the
brand and pattern that is on the tyres you are not planning to
replace. Don’t mix patterns if you can avoid it. Generally, when
you drive into a tyre store, you are offered what they want to
sell you, what they are bonused on or what they have in stock.
If they are owned by a tyre manufacturer, like Bridgestone,
Pirelli, Michelin or Continental they will try to sell the owner
brand and often that is what they will have the most stock of.

Online tyre suppliers have no overriding interest in what they
sell you. If they are making a profit, they will sell you what
they ask for

Which leads me on to the best reason to buy online. PRICE. Think
about it, a chain of tyre stores has to pay for the buildings
they are in, the staff they employ, the personnel department to
manage the staff, the computer systems the use, all of these
costs go into to the price you pay. Online tyre suppliers don’t
have these costs, therefore, they can pass the savings on to you
ensuring you get a great deal online

So what of the disadvantages? If you have a puncture now, you
can’t always wait 24hrs for the tyre to arrive in the tyre store
and then the other thing to consider is that if they don’t own
the store that they are sending the tyre too, they can’t easily
control the quality of the service you receive. They counter
this by extensive use of customer satisfaction surveys and
rewards for those stores that achieve high scores.

It’s a trade-off, it you need a tyre right away then you may
need to shop offline, but if you have the time, I would highly
recommend buying online, it’s easy, you get what you want
without pressure from salesme

For some people, buying the right car is easy. Yes, purchasing a car may be easy but the steps that you would have to go through to actually choose which one would be worth buying and investing in are something different. It is the decision-making part that is quite troublesome and worry-some for a couple of folks.

The best thing to do if you are thinking about purchasing a vehicle is to go through your intentions as per why you want to buy one. Also, do try to list your reasons why you need to buy one. Go through the list, however, make sure that you are considering your needs rather than your wants.

You may want to buy that shiny new red convertible, however, can you really afford it? When it comes to buying a vehicle, you should be financially well prepared. Know your limits and know just how much are you willing to shell out and just how much can you really spend on this investment. There are some websites that offer customers and interested parties the chance to compute how much would be the monthly installments.

Also, try to consider as per what kind of vehicle do you really like. Is it a sedan or a coupe? Or would you rather own an SUV? Choosing which type of vehicle would suit your needs and wants well could give you an easier time choosing as per which brand and which model you are going to purchase. Go through all the vehicles in that class or segment. Maybe there is one vehicle within that class that could take care of your needs as well as be within your pocket’s price range.

Remember, though, that after you have bought your vehicle, the costs and expenses do not end there. There are other costs of ownership and of driving that you would have to consider. Ask yourself if you can handle all of these. If you think you can, then you can very well be on your way to owning your own dream machine.

Bike racks are available in an assortment of designs and consist
of a wide choice of features that are intended to meet the needs
of any company or individual, no matter what it may be. Where
there are inhabitants, there are bicyclists, and racks are
obtainable in just about every design conceivable, and are
intended for a wide range of purposes. Racks have even been
fashioned for extremely specialized purposes such as bike
storage; you should have no problems finding the bike rack that
is suitable to your needs.

As you carry out your hunt for the ideal bike rack, you’ll find
a bike rack to meet your exacting requirements, look into
several designs to find the one that is right for you. Whether
you’re concentrating on requirements for safekeeping, visual
appeal, or both, you can get wide-ranging information concerning
these two vital rudiments of bike rack construction. Keep in
mind that manufacturers are constantly center on ways to develop
security and design, as well as ways to add in the best elements
of both into their rack production, so that you, the end user,
can be in the best position.

A good bike rack is going to have vast security features for one
reason-when a cyclist deposits his or her bike at a rack, they
suppose they will find it there when they return. For some
people, having their bike stolen would equal that of having a
car stolen, especially if it is their only form of
transportation. Here’s a form of transport and pleasure that has
required a considerable financial venture, no one can afford to
get a bike stolen.

With this thought in mind, purchase a bike rack that guarantees
excellent security is a great way to provide riders the feeling

Anyone involved in the forestry or logging business knows a
thing or two about skidder tire chains. Skidders, those heavy,
four-wheel tractors used to haul logs - especially over rugged
terrain, are an extremely useful tool for getting logs from one
location to another. Because the landscape around loggers tends
to be more harsh than most drivers are used to, special skidder
tires provide extra traction.

Of course, when skidder tires aren’t enough, skidder tire chains
can provide the extra traction necessary to get through any job.
Running upwards of $1,000, skidder tire chains are available in
several different varieties. With grapple skidders, most loggers
prefer to use heavier skidder tire chains because of the
horsepower. For the forwarders, which don’t have a lot of
clearance, the same result can be achieved with lighter tire
chains.

As with other tire chains, the golden rule for getting the best
performance is to keep them tight. If the skidder tire chains
are too loose, they wear out. Of course, some loggers experience
the other extreme - they put the tire chains on so tight that
the tires wear out right in the center. The best advice is to
follow the manufacturer’s directions for installation. Once
you’ve got your tire chains on, remember to rotate them every
800 or 1,000 hours, as tire chains wear down just as tires do.
By taking care of their tire chains, a logger can expert a set
to last three to five seasons.

When looking for new skidder tire chains, the ideal time to buy
is when purchasing new tires. Not only does this ensure a better
fit, but it also allows for easy installation to ensure that the
chains fit the tire properly.

By purchasing the right tire chains for your skidder tires and
taking good care of the chains, loggers can get years of use out

Have you ever thought of looking at repo motorcycles to buy as
an alternative to the normal new or used option? If you haven’t,
then take my advice and check out the idea. I believe you will
be pleasantly surprised with what you will find.

Not only are there repo motorcycles but also boats, cars,
trucks, campers and more that can be found at auction houses
around the country. These bikes and autos have usually been
repossessed because people have not been able to repay their
loans for what ever reason. Because of this the finance
companies repossess the vehicles and then use auction houses to
sell them to the highest bidder.

Often you will find these repo motorcycles, boats, cars and so
on still in excellent condition when being sold at these
auctions. This in itself gives you the perfect opportunity to
purchase not only something at a cheaper cost but also something
in good order as well.

The down side of this is that because they are sold at auction
you wont have the opportunity to test drive these machines or
take them to get checked out. But my suggestion is to have
somebody with you who is knowledgable enough to go over it there
and then to at least give it a quick check over.

You should always do your homework first before bidding on any
thing so you know what is worth what. Other wise how do you know
if you are getting a true bargain. Once you have done that and
you are sure that you want what ever item it is being auctioned
then all you have to do is bid. On most occassions you will end
up with a fantastic bargain. Remember these finance companies
just want thei

New vs used. Which car is right for you? Consider the following.

Owning a brand new car is exciting. But financially speaking, it makes more sense to buy a used car. As soon as you drive a new car off the lot, it loses a great portion of its value. This is because your car is no longer “new”.

New cars lose about 40% of their value within 3 years, then depreciation starts to slow down. Why not buy a used car and allow someone else to take that depreciation hit?

The previous owner will have absorbed the steepest part of the depreciation cycle. At that point the costs of owning and operating the car will be reduced. The money you save on depreciation will surely go a long way.

Another benefit of buying used is lower cost. By buying used you pay less. You will also save on financing costs, insurance premiums, registration and licensing fees. You don’t have to worry about paying sales tax.

As with everything else there are a few downsides to buying a used car. There are greater chances for costly unwarranted repairs. You may very soon have to do major maintenance on your car, including replacing tires, battery, brakes, muffler, and perhaps even the transmission.

A used car is usually less reliable. You don’t know exactly what you’re getting into and how the previous owner treated the car. However, every situation is different and some used models may actually be far more reliable than some new ones.

If you can pay cash, go the new car way. Enjoy the feeling of knowing you’re the original owner of a new car in mint condition. Nothing can replace that feeling.

Otherwise do not hang your hat higher than you can reach. Practice financial prudence. Save your money and comfort yourself knowing that one day you will be able to afford that dream car. One day when money is no object.
